Basic brown belt
Every guy should have a whole series of belts. One basic brown, one basic black, a dress black, and then some fun stuff.
Here is a nice basic brown from banana republic:
What to note:
- It’s wide - 1 1/2″
- The brown is a nice soft colour
- It looks well worn
- It’s real leather
- The buckle is simple brushed brass
- The leather is supple (meaning it’s soft)
Perfect all year round. If you don’t wear belts now, you don’t know what you’re missing.

What constitutes a dress black belt? I’ve got a black belt similar to this brown one but I’m guessing that would be the basic black. What should I look for in a dress black belt?
