David Beckham And The Boots Controversy!

by Dexie on October 12th, 2007

Ok, so our Hollywood Stylish Man feature on David Beckham has garnered a lot of comments from Men who wanted to know(and buy) what boots he was wearing when he officially arrived here in America to work for his million and millions of soccer contract.

So this is the boots in question…. kinda!
david_beckham_jeans.jpg

Cynthia R, said the boots are probably from John Varvatos which I also assumed it was coz it’s been known that David likes Varvatos collection. So I searched for the boots and found it at Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman.

johnvarvatos-boots1.jpg

Mike claimed otherwise. It’s from another brand……… And the plot continues…

Mike said it’s from Sendra Motor Boots and he found a pair from an ebay site in Germany.

Dom supported Mike by showing us a picture of David Beckham putting on a pair of Sendra Motor boots as a proof.

david-beckham-sendraboots.jpg

So there they are. John Varvatos or Sendra Motor. You decide. Thanks to everyone for sharing their sources. I appreciate it, and I’m sure the other readers do as well.

I think that the boots David is wearing are definitely Sendras. If you zoom in on the boots, it looks like
you can see the stitching on the toe cap. The boots also look a little rounder in the toe than the
    John Varvatos pair.

If anyone is interested in trying to get a pair for themselves, please let me know.

    Hey,

I read your comments for the boots David ist weareing or not… I decided to order the Sendras and can say that those boots are exactly the one David wears…The only difference is now that you have to wear it very long so that they look really used….They are perfect with the PRPD Jeans (only the Boot Cut ones)…

Does anybody know where I can get the one jeans from PRPS with the blanks on the back bag??

Chris, I think you are talking about the vintage stud kicker from PRPS. Check xileclothing.com. They come in straight leg as well. I believe shopkitson.com has some too.
Anyhow how do the boots fit? Do they run big or true to size? I am interested in ordering a pair for myself.

    Hey Eck,

The boots are the best I ever had..First it is a little
addiction necessary but when the leather gets a little more soft they are great. Well I have in every shoe the sizie 42 (European size) and orderred them exactly in the same size. First day you will think they are a little bit too big because the heel slides a little bit, bt you will be addicted with this, believe me…

If you need tips where to order, write me;-)

Thanks for PRPS Tips, I will look for it;-)

Hey Eck, thank you so much for the PRPS tips;.)

I already ordered one, lets see if they fit ;-.)

Well the shoes I bought are exactly in the size I`m always wearing in any of my shoes…First it seems like the boots were a little bit too big, because the heel is sliding little bit. But you will get used to this feeling after two weeks…I can tell you that there is now better boot than this one, every one (especially people in good stores) ask me where I bought them;-)

If you need more tips, let me know, I maybe coulld help you..

    See you

    Chris and Christian,
Thanks for the replies. This is my dilemma, I typically am a US 9 in my running shoes(nikes, adidas, etc) and an 8.5 in my dress shoes and boots (cole haan, kenneth cole, etc..). So considering the size 41 or size 42 in the sendra boot. I’ve been told they run a tad big. I’ve found one store in the US with a size 41, otherwise I’ll ordering overseas for size 42, where are you guys ordering from? rsoles.com or detailsoho.com?

Oh, as far as PRPS newton-store.net by far has the best selection, shipping is super fast too. Any
questions about PRPS, please write, as I own several pair.

Hey Eck, Chris an Christian are one perosn ;-) The mail came little late in these forum so anyway…I would order your size in running shoes so you won`t have any problems….I ordered my pair in Germany
at http://www.mosquito-boots.de But you also can get them at your adresses. I noticed that there are two kinds of shoes, one shoe is like the one which is seen on the top of this site (this is mine) and one pair is really in a used look…I heard from people who sell the shoes, that the one I bought were the best…If you need more info please let me now..

Best wishes Chris and Christian ;-)

Here is some info that might help anyone in the US. I have received my very own pair of Sendra boots after making several calls and speaking with some very helpful people. Here are some shops in the US that “DO” carry the Sendra boots that David Beckham wears. (1) Shoe Biz, San Francisco (415) 861-0313 (note: shoebiz has several stores in San Francisco and this is the store that I ordered them from) $355.00 (2) Sagashoes.com, New York (212) 925-7001 ext. 12 (you can see them on their website) $310.00 (3) Alcalas.com, Chicago (312) 226-0152 (talk to Richard, he is the owner and a really nice guy) $320.00 receiving new shipment of the boot on June 15, 2008. As for my new boots…I love them. The majority of my shoes are a size 8 US, and my new Sendra’s are an 8 US as well and fit perfectly. Because their a slide on boot, they seem a little tight getting them on, but once you do they fit just right. I’ve never owned a slide on boot, but I’m sure they will be easier to put on as they break in more. Heavy duty leather but very soft. A well made boot in my opinion.

Chase, Thanks for the great info, I too just received a pair of boots from Shoe Biz (wonderful people), unfortunately I sized down half a size and the shoe is too small. So the boot is going back for a refund, they don’t have the size I need, so I plan to order on overseas from detailsoho.com or rsoles. Also Chase, do you know why shoe biz and saga seem to think .5 sizes don’t exist? I need a 42 which is an 8.5 and both companies say it’s either 8 or 9.
    Enjoy your boots.

    Eck,
From what I understand shoebiz just didn’t want to carry all the sizes until they saw how well the boots would sell, and if they do well the next shipment would be a complete size run. The problem is the shipments from spain take long…around six to eight weeks so they tell me. Richard at Alcalas.com said he is receiving an 8.5 (42) June 15, 2008 if you could wait that long and at $310.00 thats not too bad. Also there is an Ebay seller from Austria who has the boots…about 6 pair left and also has an 8.5 (42) and with shipment to the US is comes out to about $285.00. He has good feedback and that might be something to look into. His ebay seller name is “star-wears” here is a link he sent me: http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370022755865.
On another note, I wore my boots for the first time last night for about 5 hours and they broke in really fast! I am very happy with my boots.

    Chase,

Thanks for the reply. I think I’m going the ebay route with Star-Wears, I’m waiting for a reply to make sure he has them in stock and to make sure he will provide tracking.

Guys! I got mine from http://www.sendraboots.co.uk (apparently they are the same company as http://www.detailsoho.com as the page re-directs you there). Bought the wrong size(42) while I actually needed 43. But the chaps at detailsoho were great, they just sent me a new one and just charged for the shipping. That’s what I call service. Really pleased with the boots. Now, if only I can find the shirt Beckham is wearing…

Alright it’s june, and I still have not solved my sizing issues. I sent back the size 41’s, too small and have the size 42’s spent the last month breaking them in, I believe they are still too small, my toes are slamming into the steel toe ( I have wide feet). Does anybody know (sam or chase) what the sendra 43 is in US size, a 9 or 9.5? My running shoe size is a us 9. I will be using thick boots socks aswell.

  • Chase
    Jun 5, 2008 at 11:25 am

    eck,

Size 9 will be a Euro 43. However if you must wear the thick socks then I would suggest Euro 44. I’ve talked to several others that have the boot and all have said they are true to their running shoe size. I wish you luck.

Chase, I spoke to someone Patrick at Alcala’s the other day and they said they had a 43 US 9.5 instock. He even went and checked the boot and indeed it was a 9.5. But, then he said he would be getting a 9 sometime this month. So, wondering if now a 42.5 in available? I’ve never heard of this size for these Sendra’s, I’ll update as soon I figure out what size I will be purchasing, my current 42’s will be hitting up ebay soon.

  • eck
    Jun 17, 2008 at 6:57 pm

    Thomas,
He wears both the reg(loose) and kicker (bootcut) models. The kicker models are hard to find in the States. If you are looking for the model with the studs on the back: they are model number: p35p05b 5 pocket stud 13.5 oz vintage drk., the 13.5 oz being the weight of the denim. The other popular model for him is the Dark Burner style number P29P02B. These are available at newton-store.net, they ship world wide and I highly recommend them. Any other PRPS questions feel free to ask.

I’m also looking for a pair of these boots but I’m a bit confused about the metal logo on the heel. The Beckham picture shows the boots with a Sendra logo on the heel/side of sole but the picture on the official Sendra site doesn’t have the logo.

I emailed sendraboots.co.uk (Detail SoHo) and they said that ALWAYS only one of the boots in each pair has the logo. What’s strange is that the picture on their site shows the right boot with no logo but the Beckham picture show the right boot with logo.

I then emailed rsoles and they said that the boots they sell have no logo at all yet the pictures on their site show the boots with the logo???

Very strange. Anyone shed any light on this? Can anyone who bought them in the UK say where they got them from and if they are with or without logo?

    Cheers.

I got mine in the UK from Rsoles. Logo on right boot only, I also have a pair from austria, same thing.

Let me know if you have anymore questions.

  • Chase
    Sep 8, 2008 at 2:21 pm

    Jon,

Logo or no logo? Actually the “David Beckham” Sendra Boots DO have the metal logo only on the right boot. Unfortunately rsoles mis-informed you.

  • Jonathan Donovan
    Sep 15, 2008 at 2:27 pm

Chase is right, mine is from sendraboots.co.uk and yes the logo is on the right. they (detailsoho) told me the photo on the website is original sendra hence it doesn’t have the metal logo but they assured me it’s there. If you click ‘next’ on their website, 3565 Black has a logo on the right. They also have a photo of Beckham with shoes and it has the metal logo!

    Nov 10, 2008 at 5:09 pm

    Hi,

Does anyone know if these boots are individually numbered? On my pair, on the inside of the boots at the front, underneath the sizing information there is “3565″ which I presume is the model number followed by a 9, not sure what that is. But then next to this on the left is a 4 digit number, on mine it’s 0915 followed by the letters SI. Is that an individual serial number? Anyone else have that number or a different one?

    Cheers.
