Giving flowers
When do you give flowers and how do you choose them?
Well, as a girl, I say give them often. Give them for those “expected” times - Valentine’s Day, Anniversaries, Birthdays, big dates. But give them mostly at those unexpected times. When she’s had a bad day, is sick, or just pops into your head. Well, now with that covered, here are some tips.
Most girls think roses boring. Too done. Especially red ones. Other colours can be exciting like purple or orange, but do try to be creative. I’ll offer my two cents to also add in to avoid carnations and even gerberas, unless you know your gal has flower preferences (and do take note).
What to search for:
- arrangements with groups of different flowers
- nice firm stems so they are fresh
- different fillers - not always the standard white baby’s breath, but branches or berries or leaves
- go to upscale florists for those special days. They can give you stuff in vases or very artistic bouquets
- either go for monotone bouquets or ones with complementary colours
- volume is important - make sure the bouquet is nice and plump
- go with colours you know she likes

No Gerberas!! I’m not going to argue with “She Who Knows Best” but I haven’t come across anyone yet who doesn’t love gerbera’s in their flower arrangements. In fact, I even tipped it for gardeners to grow.
Love to know your thoughts as to why you think they shouldn’t be there. For me, they’re a Top 10er.
