GQ Style Rules
GQ put out 25 rules to guarantee a better style. Let’s run through them…

- Two-button suits make you look slimmer
- Your suit is probably too large. The shoulder of the jacket should hug your shoulders, not stick out. Arm length to hinge of the wrist, pants to break only once.
- Toe caps on leather dress shoes keep ‘em nice longer
- Wooden hangers. Because you’re supposed to care what your clothes look like not on you too (I give this a whatever)
- Charcoal grey v-neck sweaters are universal
- J.M. Weston belts are classic
- Slim ties make you look younger. (I say no to this one)
- Buy a tailored raincoat / trench
- If you rent tuxes a lot, consider investing in a classic style
- Tape rollers are the best for lint
- Learn how to tie a bow tie - no clip ons allowed
- A long dark scarf can be worn even when it’s only slightly cold out
- Make your tie dimple
- Cordovan shoes are a good investment (easy on the product placement, hey?)
- Dryclean infrequently. Steam press instead.
- Square pocket squares, not puffy ones
- Have an extra dress shirt at the office
- Keep your overnight toiletries kit packed
- Hand press your shirts - no starch
- Grey crew necks are back in (I’m iffy on this)
- Get a murse shoulder bag
- You can go beltless with a two-button suit
- You can wear cufflinks without a tie
- Sunglasses with a suit look chic
- Dress down a suit with Sambas, no tie, no belt and a layered jacket
Ok, so I agree with most of the recommendations. Some are a little too dapper, not my style, and who really needs to wear a tux that much, but I like some of the more practical suggestions. The lint roller is one good one - tip: leave one in the car!

A dirty little secret of my husband’s - he can’t tie a tie! But he does show some fashion sense because he likes a dimple in his ties. When he buys a new tie at the store he has one of the associates tie it for him there and then he never unties it.

Beltless with a two-button suit… not sure about that one. A suit’s not called a suit for nothing! ;)
