How to propose
Product dose ran a really great series of proposal advice recently - both from the male and female perspective.
- go the traditional route if you are not the creative kind
- any story is better than no story, when it comes to telling it to your kids
- being unique is about being you - serious, funny, nostalgic, or sentimental
- a big event does not need to be expensive
- tell her parents
- relax
- say something, don’t just show the ring
- crying is ok. even appreciated.
- It’s about you - but it’s also about her. Make good decisions and respect what you’re about to do.
- don’t go for the overdone routine
- don’t go overboard - we want the ‘big moment’, but one prepared with some care and delicacy
- not all romantic gaga moments need to be in the public eye
- surprise and sincerity top the list of importance
- go for personalized over cliche
- being spontaneous is a good thing
I could tell you so much more, but really driving it home I’d say that it’s important to know your to-be-wife in terms of her taste. Does she like the big gestures? Or the small little graces that say you love her? Does she like to get dressed up? Would she suspect if you do something too over-the-top? If she suspects, don’t chicken out, be creative instead.
