Pairing shoes with shorts

Here is one tip I think that it’s high time I shared: what kind of shoes do you wear with shorts?

Ok, let’s pick a pair of shorts. Say, these from American Eagle:

So, shoes. What would work with shorts?

• Flip Flops - yes
• Low rise sneakers - yes
• Loafers (shiny) - no
• Suede loafers - no
• Sandals of any sort - yes
• Keen-style sandal/shoes - yes
• High rise sneakers - mostly*
• Dress shoes - NO
• Clogs - not in public!
• Hiking boots - only if hiking

*I have a real beef against plain white or plain black runners. Think they are butt ugly. So, these aside, you should be set with any type of runners.

And then we approach the question of socks. To wear them or not?

I came to this post because I just had to send Ianiv back to change after he came out in shorts with suede loafers with no socks. Sigh. So bad. But, he put on a pear of brown low rise sneakers with no socks and that looked hot.

So, if you’re going to wear socks, don’t wear really long socks or dress socks. Big no no’s. The best choice is low rise athletic socks - clean ones please.
