Rules Of Style : Donna Karan
Not only does Ms. Donna Karan brilliantly tackles the Women’s fashion with such ease and finesse, she’s also great in the Men’s Fashion department. DETAILS recognizes that fact which is why she’s part of the elite list of designers included in the DETAILS Men’s Style Manual. So here are Donna Karan’s 8 Rules of Style in Men’s Fashion. Italized texts are my own commentaries :) .
1. Younger guys in NY and most major cities around the world are definitely cooler than older more established ones. Donna advices Men to not be intimated by Power women. She finds Men her age are too stiff. Furthermore, she said she’d definitely go out with a younger guy and there’s no question about it. Wow! :)
2. There are fewer boundaries not between masculinity and femininity. She wants you guys to engage your creative side and let Women experience it. Don’t be afraid to delve into your senses of taste, smell, sight and touch. Coz apparently, Women don’t just want to sit there and watch football. Heh! :) .
3. Take sexiness into account when you get dressed. There are no rules anymore. She shared that she’s dressed enough Men to know it. She considers casual as smart and sexy. She likes Men who are dressed simply. And most importantly, only wear a tie if you have to.
4. Men shouldn’t have too many clothes. Staple items are : leather jacket, black coat, nice suit, some crisp shirts, a cool belt and some old t-shirts.
5. Jeans are your most important piece of clothing, no question. I agree with Donna when she said the right Jeans and a t-shirt can be sexier than the most expensive tailored suit.
6. I hate done hairdos. Never let it seem like you’ve spent too much time on your hair. AMEN!
7. Frankly, I like bald. There you go fellas. You know how to impress Donna Karan :).
8. Shoes can really make or break a guy. She doesn’t like flimsy loafers. Nothing too shiny or too clunky either.
Donna Karan is so straight forward and fun, isn’t she? Reasons why she’s my favorite designer. :)
