Rules Of Style : Kenneth Cole
We feature a lot of Kenneth Cole fashion here at She Knows Best so it would make very good sense to share with you guys his 10 RULES OF STYLE articulated in the DETAILS Men’s Style Manual by Dan Peres. Expect some of my commentaries of course :)
1. Years ago, we all wore the same gray suits and white shirts. On weekends, torn jeans and t-shirts. It’s like we all showed up at a costume party wearing the same costume. Now we all spend a lot of time getting dressed in the morning to make it look like we don’t care.
2. Every man should own a navy blazer. it’s refined and functional, like a modern-day briefcase that holds your phone, iPod, wallet and notes. [* Hmmm, don’t know about the “functions” comparison but I agree, you must have a navy blue blazer :) ]
3. I’m not into hats unless they have a purpose. [*Oh c’mon Kenneth, a baseball hat never hurt anyone :) ]
4. I’ve always designed my shoes with rubber soles because they’re comfortable.
5. You should always wear something that’s tailored. If you like jeans, wear it button down. Don’t put on a big, heavy sweater.
6. Getting dressed in the morning is a self-fulfilling reality. If you don’t look good, you don’t feel good and you might as well go and get hit by a bus. [*DAMN, Kenneth is hardcore. Getting hit by a bus is a little over the top, don’t you think? As much as I believe that Men should at least put an effort in their looks, there are worse things in life than seeing a man walking around in his PJ’s yah know… ;) ]
7. I like straight-leg jeans with boots. Boots hide imperfections, so your jeans can be a little long or short and it won’t matter.
8. Belts are great accessories. They’re modern-day holsters. But the bigger they are, the less practical they are. And I like practical.
9. I’m not a big fun of tuxes. I haven’t worn one in years. I’ll go to work in a black blazer and jeans then switch to black pants and a straight tie before I go out.
10. Some individuals think clothes are creative artistic expression, but they end up getting in their own way. Like Michael Moore — I’d love to do a makeover on him. [*Kenneth sweetie, so as the rest of the Washington staff probably..LOL ]
