Shoes 2.0 - boots
Not satisfied with his first shoe post, talking about what to look for in good shoes, Eugene came back with some more great info and specific shoe recommendations. It’s actually really comprehensive, going into many styles. Of course I’m totally happy to pass them on. Great advice with less work for me. ;)
What I’m going to do is run a series of “Shoes 2.0″ posts to cover each style. That way you won’t be overwhelmed!
Shoes 2.0 - by Eugene
After reading over my shoe story, I realized that I gave you guys absolutely no advice on which shoes to buy! How silly of me! In my defense, shoes are very individual items, and you might not like the styles I like. However, I could give you suggestions and examples of styles. And so, shoes 2.0 talks about the different styles of shoes and occasions to wear them. The most important thing however is to have a proper fit and actually like the style. Also keep in mind that breaking style rules once in a while will make you appear unique and stylish. But don’t make it a habit. No matter how style-forward you think you are, wearing a pair of Nikes with your tux is a bit of a fashion faux pas and will get you arrested by the fashion police.
Boots
I like boots because they are multi-functional. You can wear them for different occasions. Boots can be very casual, such as the various Doc Martens. Both I and Arieanna love them to death. I still have a pair in brown which I wear every winter and I’ve owned since 1998. They look almost brand new. I love wearing them with a pair of dark jeans and a sweater. Sadly however, Doc Martnes are now made in China and not England. My Chinese pair lasted me about a year before the leather upper split.
Boots can be dressy as well. For example, this very classic Hugo Boss chelsea boot can be worn with a suit, but also with just jeans and a button-down shirt. Something a bit more casual for the winter/fall season could be a Ralph Lauren Brendell boot. In brown you can wear it with cords and a sweater. Something a bit of risqué and hip could be this pair of Kenneth Coles Chemical Imbalance. You could wear them to a club or a date with a funky button down shirt and a pair of nice pants.
I like wearing boots in general because they offer more support, you can wear with both casual and dressy apparel, and dammit they are just plain manly. GRRR!!
Boots shown in order of mention.
