Short sleeved shirts with ties
If you didn’t know it already, short sleeve shirts should not be worn with ties. We can remember this tip thanks to Rhys:

Hi Arieanna! Speaking of shirts, could you please mention the ‘please don’t wear a tie with a short-sleeved shirt’ thing? I see guys doing this all over and it makes me cringe!
Sure thing, big pet peeve of many, myself included.
Short sleeve shirts are casual shirts. They are only related to business shirts because of the material and style. You can get away with them in the summer time as casual shirts, and maybe in some offices. But they are nowhere near formal enough to warrant a tie.
Marge: Homer, I don’t think you should wear a short-sleeve shirt with a tie.
Homer: Ohhh, but Sipowicz does it.
Marge: If Detective Sipowicz jumped off a cliff, would you do that too?
Homer: (as he walks away) Ohhh, I wish I was Sipowicz. [Link]

What about your regular long-sleeve button shirt with the sleeves rolle dup… does revealing the arms eliminate the tie option?

Good question - and the answer is, go for it.
The act of rolling up the sleeves does not make it a short sleeve shirt. Unless your shirt is too big, you won’t be able to roll it past your elbows, but rather just before your elbows. This will add some casual style to you without affecting the combo of tie + shirt.

To the contrary….I have gone for the sipowicz look today, something that i now find fashionable in an alternative sense after all the bad wraps the look has been given over the past five years. Yes sir, it will make a come back, just like acid wash jeans and the flat top.

agreed with Charlie. i find it satisfying to wear a short sleeved shirt with a tie working down on Wall Street. the last thing i want is to look like every other obnoxious trader type. besides, women have no right to talk, as they are the first gender to bring back awful clothing styles.
