Snow and shoes
Winter can be a bugger for fashion. You are cold, it’s snowing, things get wet and muddy and the last thing you want to wear are thin shoes and pants to work. Right?
Well, let’s compromise here. Let’s say that you can be prepared for the weather on your way to work - and on your weekends - while still looking good.
Here are my winter tips:
- Don’t bother with jeans if it’s wet or snowy out. You’ll be wet all day.
- If you’re going to work, bring a change of shoes. No matter how you cut it, you just can’t wear work shoes in the snow, nor can you get away with waterproof shoes at work
- Don’t buy ugly boots like these unless you plan on playing or working in the snow
- Look for waterproof shoes or boots. Lots of hiking shoes are waterproof.
- Look for a sole that has some grip.
- If you wear more formal business attire, don’t wear a hiker, even if you change it later. Upgrade to a nicer waterproof boot - like these.
- For casual mucking around in the snow on weekends, get a waterproof boot. If you plan on being in the snow longer, you don’t want it going into your shoe. These ones are great.
- Dry off your shoes after you take them off. They will last much longer this way and will avoid getting stained or dirty.
