T-shirt with blazer

by Arieanna on September 20th, 2005

Yep, you can handle this. A t-shirt with a blazer. Looks amazing.

You have to first get out of the mindset that blazer = business jacket.

fergie

A blazer these days is just a jacket. You can even pair a gorgeous black blazer with jeans. Looks far more amazing than any leather jacket ever would.

The trick to pulling this off is matching casual shirt with formal jacket. Yes, it’s a mix & match, but this is ok with clothes.

Casual shirts that work really well are more casual dress shirts, with a few buttons undone. Attractive stripes, bold colours, patterns, graffiti prints. But, tshirts are a great staple. Rounded collar ones.

What about the collar, you say? Well, it actually looks beyond amazing to pair a blazer with a tshirt, even though this goes against the business rule of having a collared shirt. The thing is - this is not a business outfit! So, those old rules go out the window.

I’d like a better idea about the blazer/ jacket, ie material and what not, obviously with a softer material, a felt-like substance (dont ask me the names of these things :-) ) it would work better than say a more formally cut business jacket.

That is a good look, if only I was as chiselled at that bloke! I have a blazer somewhere I’ll have to dig out and give a go.

Craig - thanks, and good luck!

Duncan - you’d be surprised. I’ve seen a black pinstripe look amazing with jeans! But I also saw today a soft suede in a tan colour that looked very yummy.

Concur with Craig, wouldn’t we all like to look like Josh Demaugel (I think that’s his name, the bloke from the Casino show)

The best sports coat / blazer purchase are the Brooks Brothers navy blue blazer with gold buttons (gold fleece insignia,) as well as the Brooks Brothers cream camel hair blazer, (brown buttons.) The Brooks Brothers navy blue blazer retails for about $495.00 and is a great investment. It works well with jeans, gray flannel wool trousers, chinos / khaki’s, with a collard shirt, tee shirt or tie. My Brooks Brothers camel hair blazer fabric is by Lori Piano (better quality,) which retails for around $600 - $900, and works well with formal or semi-formal accessories, either a shirt or tie, as well as a burgundy turtleneck and wool trousers (almost any color.) Both blazers are traditional and will not go out of style any time soon, hence the ultimate investment in wardrobe. Oh, and by the way, make sure that you complete your outfit with the best pair of shoes that you can afford. All other articles of clothing are at your discretion.
