The sporty beanie
Beanies are getting a facelift and being given new life with new style ideas. I came across this one at Banana Republic:
What’s new?
The beanie has been pulled into style by adding a sporty upturned front brim, by using detailed corded material (lambswool and cashmere) that mimics sweater material, and from its casual yet sophisticated colour.
The hat is very subtle - it’s not quite a toque (Canadian for a beanie) because it has something a little extra to it. It can, therefore, be worn more boldly as a fashion accessory, not just a hat for warmth.
To achieve a similar “style” effect, stick to beanies that are classic in colour - black, grey, red. Look for materials that remind you of sweaters - they will have relief detail or good knits. Try to match it with clothes of a similar weight and feel, like a chunky sweater.
